The Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme - Bronze Award

The Bronze Award is run during our Monday and Wednesday classes. The aim of this Award is to produce a dog that behaves and is in control at all times, has a good stay and recall. The Award provides the handler with a basic knowledge of understaning and training of their canine companion.
Assessments for the Good Citizen Dog Scheme take place twice a year. Below is a list of exercises you and your dog will undertake to gain the Bronze Award.
Exercise 1 - Cleanliness and Identification
Exercise 2 - Collar, Lead and Equipment
Exercise 3 - Walk on Lead
Exercise 4 - Control at Door/Gate
Exercise 5 - Controlled Walk Amongst People and Dogs
Exercise 6 - Stay on Lead for One Minute
Exercise 7 - Grooming
Exercise 8 - Examination of the Dog
Exercise 9 - Return to Handler
Exercise 10 - Responsibility and Care

Canine Code
For those passing all parts of the test will receive a Good Citizen Dog Scheme Bronze Certificate, a Bronze Award Rosette. The handler also receives a Bronze Award pin badge and the dog a Bronze Award collar tag.
To bridge the gap between the KC Puppy Foundation course and the Bronze Award, BMC Academy run their own scheme - The Pre-Bronze Award. This prepares the handler and dog from Puppy to the Bronze Award standard. It will be accessed internally and those passing all the test will receive a BMC Academy Certificate and Rosette.
